Goodbye, Kristen
I am seriously crying over the fact that tonight was Kristen’s last show. I think it’s so weird that her last day is also the anniversary of Gilda Radner’s death.
Kristen is proving that women in comedy is not an oxymoron. She is amazing at what she does. Sexism does not get her down, and I applaud her for that.
I hope that I am as talented as the women ofSNL. To Kristen, and to all of the comediennes of the present and past: Thank you. Thank you for paving a way for future aspiring comediennes. We appreciate everything you’ve done. I mean, back whenSNLstarted, the women had to put fake male names on sketches that they had written, or else the men wouldn’t act. By the twenty-first century, Tina Fey became the first female head writer atSNL.
My goal is to prove that women are funny. We are not “funny for women”. We are just plain funny. And I have Kristen and the many other talented and beautiful comediennes to thank for inspiring me to do so.
